PRACTICAL GUIDE · Operations

Create a tidy business enquiry form without collecting unnecessary data

A clear customer intake form captures the information needed to respond to a project, booking or service enquiry. Too many fields reduce completion rates and increase privacy responsibilities. This builder creates an embeddable HTML form layout and a downloadable standalone example, with optional consent/privacy wording. It is not a hosted form collection service: you must connect the form to a trusted processing endpoint before publishing it for real submissions.

WHAT REALLY MATTERS

Before you start

A good intake form collects only information you need to progress the enquiry. Put mandatory questions first, group related details and explain what will happen after submission. Publish an actual endpoint only when security and consent are configured.

How to use this tool

  1. Give the form a short heading and choose the details you genuinely need from customers.
  2. Add an HTTPS submission endpoint supplied by your website form processor and link to your published privacy notice.
  3. Preview the generated form, copy or download the HTML, then test submission, spam prevention, accessibility and confirmation messages in your actual website environment.

A real-world example

A website design enquiry may need a name, email, company, current website and a short description of the project. It rarely needs identity numbers, bank statements or a home address.

Good to know

If you leave the endpoint empty, the export deliberately disables submissions. A pretty HTML form without a real handler does not deliver enquiries.

QUALITY CHECKLIST

Check this before you finish

  • Remove fields that do not serve the requested service.
  • Connect a secure destination before publishing live submissions.
  • Test accessibility, confirmation and spam prevention.
COMMON MISTAKE

What to avoid

A downloadable HTML form is not automatically connected to email, a CRM or a database.

WHAT THIS TOOL ACTUALLY DOES

Design and export a form scaffold you can integrate safely.

Frequently asked questions

Will enquiries arrive in my Silver Ivy dashboard?

No. This free builder does not receive or store submissions. Connect a supported form processor or your own validated backend.

Can I collect ID numbers or sensitive information?

Avoid collecting sensitive details in generic forms. Use a secure, properly justified workflow when necessary.
